13 Hours Trailer: A Kinetic Look At The Murky Benghazi Story

The second trailer for 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi has arrived, and it's as kinetic as the first.

Based on Mitchell Zuckoff's nonfiction book 13 Hours: The Inside Account Of What Really Happened In Benghazi, the film is set during the September 11-12, 2012, attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, and the adjacent attack on a nearby facility, during which U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith, and two CIA contractors were killed. It follows a U.S. Special Forces team forced to make tough decisions over conflicting duties as the attack begins.

If it tracks the book upon which its based, don't expect 13 Hours to dive into the myriad conspiracy theories that still dominate the discussion. The film promises the untold story of the disaster, but from on-the-ground view through the eyes of total badasses risking their lives to save people. James Badge Dale stars along with John Krasinski, Toby Stephens, Pablo Schreiber, Max Martini, David Denman, Dominic Fumusa and Freddie Stroma. Michael Bay is directing from a script by Chuck Hogan. Erwin Stoff produces. 13 Hours arrives in theaters January 15 — just in time for the election season to really kick off, so expect a lot of reasoned, calm discussions after it comes out.
